The name of the city Jabalpur is a combination of the Arabic word ‘Jabal’, which means ‘Mountain’ and the Sankrit word ‘Pura’, which means ‘City’; hence giving it the name- Jabalpur, meaning “Mountain City“. It is also believed that Jabalpur is the tapasya bhumi of a mythological figure known as sage Jabalie, from whom the name Jabalpur is derived. The City of Marble Rocks defines Jabalpur aptly. It is not only an important historical place, but also famous for the Marble Rocks gorge on Narmada River. Jabalpur is a beautiful city located in Madhya Pradesh in the center of India.
